CGA: Coal export dwindled 2.6 times yoy

In accordance with the preliminary performance by the Customs General Administration (CGA), the amount of 5.1 million tons of coal has been traded at USD 421.2 million from the beginning of this year to May. Coal export lowered by 2.6 times from a year ago and it has been exported through borders of Khangi, Zamiin-Uud, Shiveekhuren, and Gashuunsukhait currently. Since January, 48 percent of coal were exported through Gashuunsukhait as well as 30 percent with Shiveekhuren respectively. Exports at borders rose, however, it did not reach the regular level. On May 18, the totality of 397 trucks transported coal via the border of Gashuunsukhait and 276 freight trucks through Shiveekhuren. Tavan Tolgoi (TT) JSC believes that exports will return to normal only if more than 500 freight trucks pass through Gashuunsukhait daily. Since the beginning of the year, 491.300 tons of copper concentrate has been exported at USD 547.5 million, decreasing by 13 percent in volume and 33 percent in revenue compared to the same period of the previous year. In addition, copper concentrate has been exporting through Zamyn-Uud and Gashuunsukhait borders. Gashuunshukhait border export, where only OT export products, reached 252,600 tons and turned normal level by 80 freight trucks crossing the border daily on May 18.
